The management of the University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor, has reiterated that the ban on sign-out ceremonies for graduating students remains fully in force, warning that anyone who violates the directive will face disciplinary action.

In a circular addressed to the university community and signed by the Registrar, Dr. Esther Akpojuvie, the institution reminded staff, students, parents, guardians and other stakeholders that the decision, which was approved by the University's Senate, has not been lifted and must be strictly observed.

The University stated unequivocally that no graduating student is permitted to organize or participate in any form of sign-out celebration within the university premises after the completion of examinations.

As part of measures to enforce the directive, the management warned that any student or group of students who enters the campus with uniformed security personnel serving as escorts for sign-out celebrations will have the vehicle(s) involved impounded immediately.

The circular further cautioned security personnel against providing escort services to students for such celebrations. According to the University, any security operative found engaging in the practice during or after the examination period will be reported to the appropriate authorities, including the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force, for necessary disciplinary action.

UNIDEL also appealed to parents, guardians, relatives and well-wishers to refrain from visiting the campus to celebrate with graduating students after their examinations, stressing that such visits could encourage activities that violate the University's regulations.

The management maintained that any student or group found organizing, participating in or encouraging sign-out ceremonies would be referred to the Students' Disciplinary Committee and sanctioned in line with the University's rules and regulations.

The institution also extended its warning to photographers and other service providers, stating that anyone who erects platforms, stages or any facility intended to facilitate sign-out celebrations within the University premises will be apprehended and handed over to the appropriate authorities.

To ensure strict compliance, the Chief Security Officer and the University's Security Team have been directed to intensify surveillance across the campus and take all necessary steps to prevent unauthorized gatherings of final-year students at the end of their examinations.

The Registrar emphasized that the University's position is clear and that the prohibition on sign-out ceremonies remains binding on all students until otherwise directed by the Senate.

Dr. Akpojuvie urged members of the University community to cooperate with the management in maintaining peace, order and discipline on campus, adding that strict adherence to the directive is expected from all concerned.
