The University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor, has received a significant boost to its digital transformation drive following the donation of eight computers by Otu Onyeoghani, an Ika socio-cultural organisation, in support of the institution’s ambitious 3,000-computer initiative.
The donation, made on Monday, October 12, 2026, represents a growing partnership between the university and its host community, reinforcing the belief that building a world-class institution requires collective investment, shared responsibility and sustained commitment to academic excellence.
Presenting the computers at a brief ceremony in the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room, President of Otu Onyeoghani and Chief Osague of Agbor Kingdom, Chief Philip Igumbor, said the organisation was motivated by the achievements recorded under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Eric Eboh. Chief Igumbor explained that the group had observed the administration’s efforts to reposition the University and decided to contribute to improving teaching, learning and digital access.
The gesture, he said, was a practical demonstration of the Organisation’s commitment to educational development and the future of the younger generation.
An elated Professor Eboh, who received the computers on behalf of the University’s Management, staff and students, described the gesture as a landmark contribution, particularly because it came from members of the community regarded as stakeholders in the institution. He expressed profound appreciation to Otu Onyeoghani, describing the donation as the first of its kind from the university’s host communities and stakeholders.
He assured the Organisation that its contribution would remain part of the University’s history, adding that the computers would support UNIDEL’s digitalisation drive and broader pursuit of academic excellence.
“UNIDEL will forever be grateful for this wonderful support for our digitalisation process, to promote academic excellence. What you have done today will forever be written in the annals of UNIDEL. You have indeed triggered a donation series for us,” Eboh declared.
The ceremony’s high point was the formal handover of the computers to the Vice-Chancellor.
Among the university officials present were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Patrick Ijeh; the Registrar, Dr Esther Iroro Akpojuvie; the University Librarian, Dr Vera Okonoko; and Chairman, Digitalization Committee, Dr Ejaita Okpako, and Chairman stakeholders mobilization and contacts committee, Prof. Sam Ojogboh.
The Otu Onyeoghani delegation included its Vice-President, Professor E. Alika, Professor E. U. Tibi, Mr Sam Nwa-Igumbor, Dr. Onyemaechi Ugboh, Chief Dr. Ndu Okonye, Mr Nwokolo Chukwuka, Mr Peter Ofili, and other members.
