What began as a routine consultation tour quickly transformed into a powerful political statement, as Dr. Donald Peterson, leading House of Representatives aspirant for Ika Federal Constituency, received a thunderous and heartwarming reception at both the Ika North-East and Ika South APC Local Government Secretariats.
From chants of solidarity to visible excitement among party faithful, the message was unmistakable, Dr. Peterson’s candidacy is not just gaining traction; it is commanding loyalty, trust, and genuine grassroots enthusiasm.
At the Ika North-East APC Party Secretariat, the atmosphere was electric as the Party Chairman, Gen. Emeke Asiwe, alongside his executives, formally received Dr. Peterson and his entourage. What followed was not merely a welcome, it was a symbolic endorsement wrapped in warmth, unity, and hope.
In a moment that underscored both spirituality and political goodwill, prayers were fervently offered for Dr. Peterson, seeking divine guidance and success in his bid to represent the good people of Ika Federal Constituency at the National Assembly. It was a gesture that spoke volumes, an acknowledgment of both his aspiration and his perceived readiness for the task ahead.
Addressing party leaders and a swelling crowd of supporters, Dr. Peterson made his intentions clear, without ambiguity or political double-speak.
“I have come to formally declare before my party and my people my intention to represent Ika Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives under the platform of our great party,” he said. “But beyond declaration, I am here to seek your support, your trust, and your partnership in this journey.”
He did not stop there.
In a tone that blended conviction with humility, he emphasized the urgent need for unity among the people of Ika nation, describing it as the foundation upon which meaningful progress must be built.
“We cannot move forward if we are divided,” he added. “Ika must speak with one voice, act with one purpose, and pursue one collective future.”
If the reception in Ika North-East was electrifying, the atmosphere at the Ika South APC Party Secretariat was nothing short of emotional, a true homecoming.
Led by the Party Chairman, Comrade Frank Izekor, and his team of executives, Dr. Peterson was received not as a visitor, but as one of their own. The warmth was unmistakable. The connection, undeniable.
Supporters thronged the venue, eager not just to see him, but to identify with a candidacy many now describe as “a natural choice.”
Again, Dr. Peterson reiterated his mission, one rooted in service, capacity, and a deep understanding of the needs of his people.
“I am not coming to learn the job,” he declared. “I am coming prepared. I am coming ready. And I am coming with a clear commitment to deliver quality and purposeful representation.”
He pointed to his antecedents; his track record of community engagement, empowerment initiatives, and consistent presence in the lives of the people, as evidence that his aspiration is built on substance, not slogans.
And the party listened.
In both Ika North-East and Ika South, party executives did not mince words in their response. They described Dr. Peterson as a loyal and dependable party man, one who has stood with the APC and its ideals, not just in moments of political convenience, but through sustained commitment.
Their assurance of support was clear, confident, and collective.
“This is someone we know,” a party executive remarked. “This is someone who has been with the people. His story is not seasonal. His presence is not occasional. And that is why his candidacy resonates.”
Indeed, across both secretariats, one theme stood out: credibility.
In a political climate often dominated by last-minute entrants and unfamiliar faces, Dr. Peterson represents a different narrative, one of consistency, accessibility, and proven engagement.
He is seen not as a stranger seeking votes, but as a familiar figure seeking to deepen service.
He is not viewed as a political experiment, but as a prepared candidate with the capacity to deliver from day one.
And perhaps most importantly, he is perceived as someone who understands Ika; not just geographically, but emotionally, socially, and politically.
As the consultations continue and momentum builds, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: this is more than a campaign.
It is a movement gathering strength.
It is a candidacy finding its rhythm.
And if the scenes at Ika North-East and Ika South are anything to go by, Dr. Donald Peterson is not just in the race, he is setting the pace.
