A renowned philanthropist and General Overseer of Divine Faith Evangelical Mission International, also known as Deliverance Ministry, Prophet Joseph Igbodo, has described the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the best government Nigeria has ever had.

Prophet Igbodo made the declaration during the church's Independence Day service held on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the church auditorium located at 108 Charles Street, Agbor, Delta State.

The cleric, who is also the Proprietor of Job Orphanage and Saint Stephen's Trust Widows Home, spoke on the current economic situation in the country and its impact on the lives and attitudes of Nigerians.

According to him, the challenges associated with the present economic situation could also compel individuals to become more serious, resourceful and determined to develop their talents.

He said, “When people are humbled, they learn faster. This is the best government ever. Hunger can push people to discover and groom their talents.”

Prophet Igbodo noted that the prevailing economic realities were influencing the way many Nigerians approached their daily lives, businesses and personal responsibilities.

“This is a very good time. The economic reality regulates a lot of things in the country. People are now serious with how they live their lives,” he stated.

His comments came against the backdrop of ongoing economic reforms under the Tinubu administration, including measures relating to fiscal management, agriculture, infrastructure, investment and social intervention. In his October 1, 2026 Independence Day address, President Tinubu said the government’s reforms had contributed to improved economic growth and stability, while acknowledging that many Nigerians still faced economic difficulties.

The President reported that Nigeria's economy had grown by more than four per cent in 2026 and said inflation had fallen substantially from its earlier peak. He also highlighted efforts to increase agricultural production, improve infrastructure, create jobs and strengthen support for vulnerable Nigerians.

The Federal Government had earlier reported that the country's Gross Domestic Product grew by 4.43 per cent in the second quarter of 2026, with growth recorded across agriculture, manufacturing, oil and gas, and services.

However, while acknowledging the difficulties associated with the current economic realities, Prophet Igbodo maintained that the situation could also serve as a wake-up call for Nigerians to become more productive and develop their God-given abilities.

He encouraged members of his congregation not to allow economic challenges to destroy their hope but to use difficult circumstances as an opportunity to learn new skills, develop their talents and pursue legitimate means of livelihood.

The cleric further urged Nigerians to embrace hard work, discipline and creativity, stressing that individuals should not depend solely on government or formal employment for their survival.

He said the ability to identify and develop one's talents could provide an alternative means of livelihood and help individuals navigate challenging economic circumstances.

Prophet Igbodo's declaration formed part of his message during the Independence Day service, where he also reflected on the need for Nigerians to remain hopeful about the future of the country.

He called on citizens to continue contributing positively to national development while encouraging Christians to maintain their faith and trust in God despite prevailing challenges.

According to him, Nigeria has the human and natural resources required to prosper, but citizens must be prepared to work, learn and make productive use of the opportunities available to them.

He urged Nigerians to see the country's challenges not only as difficulties but also as a motivation to rethink their approach to life, business and personal development.

Prophet Igbodo concluded by encouraging members of his congregation to remain prayerful, hardworking and determined, stressing that difficult seasons could produce valuable lessons and inspire people to discover abilities they might otherwise have neglected.
