Sudanese-born billionaire and philanthropist Mo Ibrahim has praised the $20 billion Dangote Petroleum Refinery, describing the project as a transformative investment for Nigeria and the African continent.
Speaking about the refinery, Ibrahim commended his longtime friend Aliko Dangote for undertaking what many considered an impossible project, noting that the facility represents the kind of large-scale industrial investment Africa needs to drive economic growth and self-sufficiency.
According to Ibrahim, the refinery demonstrates that African entrepreneurs can successfully execute world-class infrastructure projects capable of reducing dependence on imports and strengthening regional economies.
The Dangote Refinery, Africa’s largest, has already begun reshaping fuel supply dynamics across Nigeria and parts of the continent, while expanding exports of refined petroleum products. It recently surpassed its nameplate capacity during testing and is positioning itself as a major global supplier of refined products.
Industry observers say the refinery is helping to shift Africa’s energy landscape by reducing reliance on imported fuel and creating new opportunities for industrial development across the region.
