Twenty years ago, a beautiful little girl cried her first cry of joy and announced her arrival into our world. That cry changed everything. Since that day, it has been joy upon joy and blessings upon blessings.
Today, my beloved daughter, Nma Ewere, is 20!
Nma is not just my first daughter; she is the child of my youth, my beloved daughter, my sounding board, my trusted critic and, officially, my longest-serving private secretary!
Yes, you read that correctly. Since the age of nine, Nma has been my private secretary. And remarkably, none of my writings ever goes public without her input, including this very one! 😂
She reads my drafts, makes her observations, points out things I may have overlooked and sometimes, with the confidence of a senior editor, tells Daddy what should or should not remain in the article.
And then comes another annual ritual.
Her birthday is also salary-review season!
Every birthday, Nma asks for a raise in her allowance. No negotiation. No hesitation. No apology. 😂
So, my dear daughter, as you turn 20 today, I am only wondering: what exactly are you planning to ask for this time? I hope your demand will not be beyond the reach of your “teacher” father!
But jokes apart, Nma, watching you grow from that little girl who became Daddy's secretary at nine into the beautiful, intelligent and purposeful young woman you are today has been one of my greatest joys.
You have a great personality. You carry positive energy. You bring warmth, intelligence and life wherever you go. And I am immensely proud of the woman you are becoming.
As you enter this new chapter of your life, I decree greatness upon you.
May your path be illuminated with divine favour.
May wisdom guide your decisions.
May grace announce you in places where your name has not yet been mentioned.
May doors of opportunity open for you.
May you never lack good people, genuine friends, wise mentors and divine helpers.
May your intellectual capacity continue to increase, and may your talents make room for you.
May you excel in your studies, career and every legitimate pursuit of your heart.
May you have the courage to dream big, the discipline to pursue your dreams and the grace to achieve them.
May you never lose your beautiful personality, your positive energy or the goodness in your heart.
May you become everything God has destined you to become—and even more.
And when success comes, as I believe it surely will, may you remain humble enough to remember where you started and compassionate enough to lift others as you rise.
Nma, you deserve the very best of life. You deserve happiness without pretence, success without compromise, love without manipulation, friendships without betrayal and a future filled with purpose and fulfilment.
Twenty years ago, your first cry brought joy into our lives. Today, your life continues to bring us reasons to celebrate.
Happy 20th birthday, my beloved daughter!
Keep growing. Keep learning. Keep shining. Keep challenging Daddy's writings—and, of course, keep asking for that allowance raise! 😂
But remember, your “teacher” father loves you more than any allowance can ever measure.
I am proud of you.
I believe in you.
I celebrate you.
I bless you.
And I decree that greatness shall be your portion, favour shall follow you, and your best years shall always be ahead of you.
Happy birthday, Nma Ewere - my first daughter, the child of my youth, my secretary, my critic, my joy and one of God's greatest gifts to me.
May the next 20 years be even more beautiful than the first.
With all my love,
Daddy, Mum, Jay & Diamond❤️🎂🎉
