Today, September 24, is more than just another date on the calendar. It is a day to celebrate a remarkable man, a devoted family man, a community leader and an embodiment of perseverance, discipline and hard work; Chief Emmanuel Jimoh Ehikwe, who clocks 79 years today.
At 79, Chief Ehikwe can look back with gratitude and satisfaction at a life well lived. His story is that of a man who started from humble beginnings but refused to allow his circumstances to define his destiny. Through education, determination, integrity and an uncommon work ethic, he steadily built a life worthy of celebration.
Born on September 24, 1947, in Agbor-Alidinma, Delta State, Chief Ehikwe began his educational journey at Umu Primary School, Agbor-Alidinma, before proceeding to Government Modern School, Ndemili, and later St. George’s Secondary Grammar School, Obinomba.
But his journey was never simply about acquiring certificates. It was about constantly improving himself and creating opportunities for a better future.
After secondary school, he began his working life as a teacher at Catholic Primary School, Ekuku-Agbor. He subsequently taught at Agbor-Alisimie. Even while earning a living as a teacher, however, Chief Ehikwe refused to abandon his academic aspirations.
He enrolled at Exam Success College, where he studied part-time for the Advanced Level General Certificate of Education. His determination paid off, eventually earning him admission to the University of Lagos to study Accounting.
After three years of dedicated study, he graduated with a degree in Accounting; another significant milestone in a life defined by the willingness to learn, adapt and move forward.
His professional career took another important turn when he joined Paul Osa Nigeria Limited, where his competence, integrity and dedication saw him rise to the position of Chief Accountant.
But Chief Ehikwe was not a man content to remain within the boundaries of one career. After years of corporate experience, he ventured into contracting and business, bringing with him the financial knowledge, discipline, leadership skills and determination he had accumulated over the years.
His contribution to society, however, extends beyond his professional achievements.
Chief Ehikwe has also distinguished himself through community service and leadership. As President of the Ika Association, Abuja Branch, he played a role in promoting unity, cooperation, cultural identity and the welfare of the Ika people.
That dimension of his life reveals something important about the man: success, to Chief Ehikwe, has never been measured only by what one accumulates for oneself, but also by what one contributes to the community.
At home, he is the patriarch of a beautiful family. Happily married to his beloved wife, Mrs. Angela Ehikwe (Ezinne), Chief Ehikwe is blessed with eight children. His greatest legacy may well be the family he has nurtured and the values he has transmitted to the generations that will come after him.
At 79, his life offers a powerful lesson: a good life is not necessarily a life without challenges; it is a life in which challenges are confronted with courage, setbacks are met with determination, and opportunities are transformed through hard work.
From the classroom to the university lecture halls; from teaching to professional accounting; from corporate leadership to entrepreneurship; from business to community leadership; and from husband and father to respected family patriarch, Chief Emmanuel Ehikwe has travelled a remarkable road.
Today, we celebrate not merely his age, but the quality of the years.
We celebrate the teacher who believed in education.
We celebrate the accountant who valued competence and integrity.
We celebrate the businessman who embraced responsibility.
We celebrate the community leader who promoted unity.
We celebrate the husband and father who built a family.
And we celebrate the courageous man whose life continues to speak long after the achievements of individual moments have passed.
Chief Emmanuel Jimoh Ehikwe, at 79, yours is a story of perseverance rewarded, responsibility embraced and service rendered with dignity.
As you celebrate this beautiful milestone, may God grant you renewed strength, sound health, greater peace and many more fulfilling years surrounded by the people you love.
May the years ahead bring you the joy of seeing your children and grandchildren flourish. May your home continue to be a source of happiness, your wisdom a blessing to younger generations, and your legacy a lasting testimony of a life lived with purpose.
Happy 79th Birthday, Chief Emmanuel Jimoh Ehikwe!
May your new year be filled with grace, good health, peace, happiness and abundant reasons to give thanks.
You have lived a good life. May God give you many more beautiful years to enjoy the fruits of your labour.
Happy Birthday, Chief! Many happy returns.
